Portraits and head shots are a type of photography I really enjoy. For some reasons these are really fun to do and you can often get different types of moods or feelings from a good portrait or head shot. Most of the work I have done so far have been portraits or head shots, and I almost always try to get a head shot when I am doing other work such as at events, or just out and about. I think they help in telling a story. Something I have learned through out this journey of mine is that when telling the story through pictures, it is best to get a wide angle showing everything, then get a little closer of a shot to the subject you are shooting, then get a tight shot usually a head shot or similar and this really helps tell what is going on. The wide explains the surroundings and the things that are impacting the subject, the closer gives a quick glance at what the focus is on, and then the tight close up shows the mood or the emotion that is coming through.
